Photoshop Two-tone Matte Action
(SALE OVER) This week I'm giving away a Photoshop two-tone matte action which you can use create unique looks in your photos or images. The default action is to provide warm lights and cool shadows, but you can change the colors in the adjustment layers to suit your needs. Additionally, there's a normalization layer to bring in some more blacks and highlights prior to applying the matte effect. I've found that this sometimes produces images that are too dark or light; so feel free to disable this adjustment layer as needed.
To create the two-tone effect, we're using photo filter adjustment layers. This allows us to preserve the luminosity of the original image (or normalized image in this case). Sometimes I find that using a color overlay with low opacity and blending mode set to color works just as well, but I find the adjustment layer to be more controllable; I can view the settings and change the color without having to use the fill command.
