Walls (mindfulness post for 1/28/17)
When we have fear, a common reaction is to put up walls that prevent what we are afraid of from coming into our lives. Despite this, the fact is that the fear is actually ours. Walls won’t eliminate our fear of the thing that still exists just outside the wall; they simply prevents us from seeing it. By building walls, we hide the thing we are fearful of, but we do not eliminate the fear itself. And, unfortunately, our fear is also part of the problem, perhaps the bigger part … because we can not make things go away by hiding them.
