Chasing Destruction (mindfulness post for 2/7/17)
Without mindful practice, our brain often follows destructive thoughts down very dangerous paths of self-loathing and hatred of others. That does not diminish the fact that chasing destructive thoughts is still a choice. We must see these thoughts for what they are and understand where they will lead if we follow them. Hatred. Anger. Despair. Fear. They do not go to good places. And no one is required to follow them down into the depths of darkness. If we do, we should not be surprised when we find ourselves without light.
